FEELING UNWANTED

I think feeling unwanted is the biggest challenge I have with being adopted. It can be so depressing, especially when you feel like no one understands. The thought of someone who carried you in their stomach for nine months, then gave you to complete strangers. The thought that your birth mom (in my case) hid pregnancy for seven months. These thoughts can be overwhelming.

Feeling unwanted can be draining. Sometimes it feels like no one will ever understand. I've tried many things to fight this feeling. Many friends, boyfriends, drinks, and they have all ended in complete heartbreak. I've realized that these things won't save me. The only thing that will save me, and you, is Jesus. Think about the most beautiful things you can. For me, it's sunsets. God created that, and he thought the world needed you.

Clearly, we were all brought to this earth for a purpose. Finding the purpose can be discouraging at times. Jeremiah 1:51 says, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Now, God was talking to Jeremiah, and chances are your purpose is not to be a prophet. Despise that fact, what God's plan for you is incomprehensible. He knows you. He knew you before he created you parents, grandparents, great-grandparent, and everyone else. When you do find your calling, thoughts tend to flood your mind. "I'm too old." "I'm too young" "I'm not even qualified to do this." "I'm just not ready." But God doesn't assign you to do anything without his overpowering love, grace, and encouragement. Rest assured knowing the one who created the most beautiful things in the world created you, wants you, and has a unique purpose just for you.
